Material story/characteristics:- Texture: The texture consists of fine, regular short vertical lines/micro-particle interlacing, with a tight and powerful grain, resembling the resilient texture of a cow’s neck. The lines are clean and uncluttered, with a moderate three-dimensionality and no exaggerated unevenness. Unlike the delicate vertical lines of a toothpick, the cow-strength texture is more robust and full, possessing an inherent sense of strength and structure.
Gloss and Texture: Primarily a warm, semi-matte finish, without glaring shine. Light refraction is soft, and the ridges and valleys of the grain create natural light and shadow layers. The more it is used, the warmer and more lustrous it becomes, presenting a sophisticated and understated luxury.
Leather Condition: The leather surface is smooth and firm, with uniform thickness and virtually no natural flaws.
Hermes started as a manufacturer of equestrian equipment. At that time, saddle leather had to possess extremely high toughness and support to withstand the impact of galloping horses and ensure the rider’s safety. Through long-term practice, the artisans in the workshop discovered that the leather texture of the cow’s neck is tight and resilient, making the saddles made from it both sturdy and durable. This was the original inspiration for the cow neck pattern.

Product Description:
Hermès’ oxhide embossing is not merely a simple replication of the pattern; it represents Hermès’ ultimate refinement of high-end leather:
• Raw Material Selection: Only young bull hides from European pastures are used, ensuring the leather’s fine fibers, absence of scars, and uniform toughness, guaranteeing the quality of the leather from the source.
• Craftsmanship: After multiple rounds of tanning, degreasing, and shaping, artisans adjust exclusive molds and use constant-temperature hot pressing technology to create a uniform texture. Then, it undergoes hand polishing and glazing, giving the leather both resilience and delicacy, preserving the natural texture of leather while enhancing durability.
• Core Values: In a luxury market that pursues ostentatious designs, Hermès adheres to the understated design of the oxhide embossing, abandoning superfluous decoration and using the inherent resilience and texture of the grain to interpret luxury, aligning with the brand’s philosophy of “true luxury in silence.”
